News - The Grand National For Runners

Grand NationalTaking place entirely within the grounds of Aintree Racecourse, the home of the Grand National, the Grand 10K Run at Aintree looks likely to emerge as one of the most unique races in the northern calendar. The inaugural event, organised by Sports Tours International, is set for Sunday 22 September.

Race Listing

River Rat RaceLast weekend's race results are now available online at northernrunningguide.com.

Big weekend of racing ahead with half marathons in Fleetwood and Lancaster, and an adventure race in Stockton. Fleetwood half marathon is a flat, rural, one-lap race, running along the Lancashire walkways and Fleetwood promenade. Wagon & Horses half marathon in Lancaster takes in some scenic coastal views across the Lune and is a friendly event for first time and experienced runners alike. The route is flat and fast and is an out and back with a loop at Caton.

Those wanting to make a splash should head to Stockton for the River Rat Race. Described as 'an obstacle course with a twist', participants will swim, wade, crawl, climb, jump, splash and run around the 10K riverside race on the River Tees, accessing iconic structures en-route.
