The cut-off point for early-bird registration is 31 May, so interested runners are encouraged to sign up early for what is a well-organised race that is ideal for both first-timers and those seeking a PB.

News - Free Places For First Timers

BUPA My first RunThousands of first time runners are being offered free race places by Bupa as part of its quest to inspire more people in the UK to be physically active. There are 2,000 free race places being offered across the Bupa Great Run 5K events, which includes the Great Edinburgh 5K (14 July), the Great North 5K (14 September) and the Great South 5K (26 October).

News - Pilates For Runners On Offer In Leeds

Up and Running Pilates AdRunners in West Yorkshire are being invited to improve their running performance by adding pilates to their training regimes. Up & Running Leeds Central has teamed up with Optimum Health Studio to offer a 6 week 'pilates for runners' course at the Boar Lane store, starting on Tuesday, 11 June.

Jane Tomlinson and Paula Radcliffe are neck and neck for first place, both with 15%, hot on their heels though is Mo Farah with 14.3%, and only slightly behind is Ron Hill with 13.6%.

Fans of trail running are spoiled for choice this weekend with the 17km Kentmere Trail Race, 17km Kentmere Trail Challenge and 10km Kentmere Trail Run in Cumbria on Saturday. Then on Sunday there's the Amberswood Trail 10K in Wigan. For something less strenuous there are several 5Ks taking place,
including the Middlesbrough 5K, Catforth Canter 5K and - just for the ladies - Normanby Hall Womens 5K.
