News - St Andrews Celebrates Opening parkrun

St Andrews ParkrunThe Scottish parkrun circuit welcomed a new event last Saturday (April 21) as 75 runners headed to Craigtoun Country Park at St. Andrews. Despite the assertion that it 'never rains at parkrun, the event got off to a soggy start as the competitors made their way round the three lap course.

News - Freya Bides Time Over Olympic Selection

Freya MurrayThe joy of Freya Murray's remarkable debut at the Virgin London Marathon, in which she finished almost three minutes within the Olympic qualifying time and placed her as the second fastest Scottish female over the distance, was offset by the fact her performance may not be enough to secure the final spot at London 2012.

Review - Hoka Grows On You

Hoka BondiThe first time I headed out in Hoka One One's Bondi B model on an evening when I was feeling quite drained from a hard day at the office, I struggled. I'm a mid-weight runner, neutral, someone who likes a bit of cushioning to protect hips and knees, but on looking at the Hoka - 'I thought s'truth mate, these babies are a bit on the bulky side'. My colleague said they looked like snow boots. Anyway I had a sluggish run and decided to put it down to the shoe.

Poll - The Barefoot Question

Poll ImageThe recent debate about "Barefoot Running" is a controversial one, with some runners now deeply committed to their minimalist shoes, others still prefer shoes that offer support and cushioning.

Most people still prefer to run with cushioning, while some others are considering trying out minamalist running, with committed minamalists in third place this week.
